From December 8 to 10, a delegation of emergency medical professionals from the Taoyuan City Fire Department and physicians from Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou (Chang Gung Medical Foundation) visited Japan.

The purpose of this exchange was to share insights into the current landscape of emergency medical services in Taiwan and Japan. During their stay, the delegation visited the Chiba City Fire Department and the Chiba Institute of Science, where both sides engaged in active discussions regarding prehospital emergency medical systems, operational structures, and future directions for collaboration.

I (Murakami) participated as part of the coordinating team on the Japanese side, supporting the visit and facilitating communication between institutions. This exchange provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen mutual understanding and contribute to the advancement of prehospital emergency care between Taiwan and Japan.

In an era of increasing global mobility and complex emergencies, strengthening international collaboration in emergency medicine and crisis management has become indispensable. Cross-national exchanges such as this not only enhance technical and operational capacities, but also help build a shared framework for resilience that transcends borders. By learning from each other’s systems and experiences, we can contribute to a safer and more responsive international community.
